Students also discuss Mediation services to buffer distinct data structure and protocol selection between services and develop such services in the WebSphere Advanced ESB (WebSphere Message Broker) including HTTP-HTTP, JMS-JMS and HTTP-JMS mediations. Students also practice exposing an existing WebSphere MQ based application using fixed record data (i.e. a COBOL application) as a WebService. Finally, concepts associated with the development of Orchestration Services are discussed. Students develop a simple business process model using WebSphere Process Server and deploy it to orchestrate services developed in the previous exercises.

    Recommended Prerequisites:

Application architecture and/or development experience is strongly recommended. Experience with one or more of the underlying WebSphere products (Rational Application Developer, WebSphere Message Broker, and WebSphere Process Server) is beneficial, but is not required.

WebSphere® MQ Troubleshooting - Distributived Platforms
This course may be delivered for distributed platforms or mainframe. See MSMQ-MQTM-0700 for Mainframe. When managing a sophisticated WebSphere MQ network an administrator has three primary tasks to ensure a smoothly operating middleware environment. First, it is critical that the systems and their connections be configured in accord with established best practices and appropriately for the available hardware and messaging volumes. Second, the administrator must establish mechanisms to proactively detect problems and correct their underlying causes. Third, the administrator must clearly understand application performance and its limitations (as established through testing) in order to establish business cases to improve bottlenecks rather than scattershot reworking of entire systems. Attendees in this course will gain experience in all three of these areas through classroom lecture describing configuration best practices, sizing techniques, problem detection and correction procedures, tracing and error handling techniques, and performance testing and analysis methods. The concepts will be further demonstrated through hands on exercise addressing each of the main topics.

    Recommended Prerequisites:

Before taking this course, you should have previous technical experience in working with WebSphere MQ Administration at the level of BMC Software’s Basic MQ admin or IBM’s Basic MQ Admin courses. Skills and experience in one of the following areas will enable you to derive the most from this course: Communications and networking, System and network management, System design, Transaction processing, Client/server solutions, Platform knowledge.

    WebSphere® Process Server for Developers
This five-day course is designed to provide students with the core skills that they will need to implement orchestration (business process) services in WebSphere Integration Developer for WebSphere Process Server. After an initial discussion of the core function of process orchestration in an SOA, students begin by defining a business process using the WebSphere Integration Developer V6 and generating BPEL to describe that process. Students then learn use Service Component Architecture (SCA) to make the process more modular. Next, the concepts of data modeling for orchestration services are discussed in detail. Students construct basic data models as Business Objects. The course then takes students through binding that process to JMS (both MQ and Service Integration Bus) and HTTP based Web Services using the WebSphere Integration Developer (WID) V6 and deploying the resultant fully defined business process to the WID Process Server testing environment. The later portion of the course takes students through more advanced process modeling including loops and decisions as well as the detailed handling of exceptions and compensation in the process server environment. Finally, the course discusses other types of activity implementations including Business Rules Engines, State Machines, and Human Tasks. All key concepts are reinforced with hands-on labs to ensure that attendees leave with practical experience.

    Recommended Prerequisites:

Fundamental knowledge of J2EE concepts and architecture as well as general business process design knowledge is highly recommended.
