Building a Strong Forecast using JDA Demand

JDA® Demand is an advanced planning solution used to create accurate Demand Forecasts.

This Demand training track walks you through the functionality of the JDA® Demand application from beginning to end. You will start with fundamental navigation of the web user interface and progress through the more complex features that make JDA Demand a superior product for forecasting. The course follows the phases of the Demand Planning cycle and specifically how the JDA Demand application facilitates each step of the cycle. Once you have used the JDA Demand tools to evaluate history, manage exceptions, and modify the forecast with your knowledge, you will then use the JDA tools to analyze the forecast and improve the forecast accuracy. You will have hands-on exercises throughout the course to reinforce your understanding of JDA Demand and your instructor will provide demonstrations to emphasize the features and functionality as well.

Prerequisites

JDA Navigation for Advanced Users e-Learning course 4062
The Overview of Demand e-Learning course 4101
Basic understanding of logistics and the supply chain.
Those with no background in these areas may consider attending the one-day course: 4036 Supply Chain Management Overview prior to enrolling in this course.

Objectives

After completing this certification track, you will be able to:

Work with the web user interface to modify data, run processes and view results.
Explain how the Demand application relates to the steps in the Demand Planning Cycle.
Create statistical models and explain how multi-models are statistically evaluated and fine tuned.
Adjust corresponding parameters to fine-tune statistical algorithms, including Fourier, Lewandowski, Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), Moving Average, Holt-Winters, AVS Graves and Croston.
Discuss the methods of aggregating history and reconciling forecasts. Explain how it helps to improve forecasting.
Define tools used to maintain DFU data and hierarchical structures.
Explain how to manage and incorporate additional information and/or events into the statistical forecast and demonstrate how each is accomplished.
Discuss the causes of forecast error and how JDA® Demand can highlight areas for improvement.
Discuss your business process and incorporate the functionality of JDA Demand into the business process.
